My sister, Brianna.
Here's my sister around age 3. She's full of boundless enthusiasm. She reminds me every day that it's a good thing to be happy and excited over the things you're experiencing.

Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” is a great line from Emerson. If there’s no enthusiasm in what you do, it won’t be remarkable and certainly won’t connect with people on an emotional basis. But, if you put that magic energy into all of your work, you can create something that touches people on a deeper level. How can you bring MORE enthusiasm into your work? What do you have to think or believe about your work to be totally excited about it? Answer it now.

I’ve always struggled with being completely satisfied with my work.

I tend to be a perfectionist, always looking for ways to improve upon what I produce. So when it comes to bringing enthusiasm to the table, I think I need to overcome this hurdle first. Being satisfied with what you create is huge and I think that once I have a better grasp on that, I can add that special “magic energy” that makes something truly great.

Sure, I’ve felt the magic energy before. Throughout the #Trust30 exercise, there have been several prompts where I think I created something wonderful. There are a few of these posts that I’m truly proud of and would show to anyone. But as they say, we’re all our toughest critics and it’s easier to be hard on ourselves than it is to give ourselves praise. Perhaps a little bit more praise could be a good thing. Maybe it’s not such a bad thing to celebrate our good works. Being appropriately humble is still warranted in some situations, but there are times when we all could use a pat on the back or a few nice words. It can get us moving toward something bigger. Plus, it gives us the confidence to feel excited about something we’re doing. In my opinion, being excited about what you’re doing is one of the best ways to inspire good work.
